The idea
People comparing aesthetic treatments - Botox, laser hair removal, fillers, body contouring - had no single place to see real clinics, real ratings and realistic price context side by side. MedSpa Compass answers that: every listed clinic has a unique editorial description, verified Google rating, services, hours and photos, aggregated into city, state and treatment pages that actually help someone choose.
The build
The site runs as server-rendered Astro on Cloudflare Workers, with the catalog in Cloudflare D1 and all clinic photography self-hosted on R2. Directory pages are edge-cached, bringing warm responses to roughly 140 ms TTFB. The platform includes a full moderation loop - public submissions, owner claims verified by business-domain email, photo and hours editing with admin review - plus Stripe subscriptions for verified and featured placements and transactional email throughout.
The SEO engine
City selection is demand-driven: markets enter the index only after search volume validation, and every treatment-city page must clear a minimum clinic threshold before it is indexable - the sitemap and page templates share one gate, so thin pages never leak. Structured data covers MedicalBusiness, FAQPage and Dataset schema, and the site publishes llms.txt with a full machine-readable pricing table for AI search engines. The flagship link asset is the Botox Cost Index - typical price per unit across all 49 covered states, free to cite.
